Curiosity, Circuits and a Slightly Late First Class

When Tina first joined GB1fitness, it wasn’t because she was confident with weights or certain she’d enjoy circuits.

Quite the opposite.

She was simply intrigued to see whether it was something she could do, or would even like.

Her first session set the tone.

She turned up late (a habit she proudly admits hasn’t changed), arrived at the old location, and joined straight in, without even booking the class.

Not textbook. Very Tina. And very GB1fitness.

Fast forward 3.5 years, and she’s still there every week, despite the fact that sessions are outdoors and, somehow, it always seems to rain when she arrives.

Strength Gains and Learning the Weights

One of the biggest surprises for Tina has been what strength training has given her physically.

Like many people, she had no idea how different weights worked, what they were for, or how they might change how she felt or looked.

Over time, that uncertainty turned into confidence.

Confidence using equipment she’d never touched before.

Confidence in her strength.

Confidence in what her body is capable of.

It wasn’t about chasing extremes, it was about learning, progressing, and feeling fitter in a way that felt achievable and sustainable.

Community First, Fitness Second

Tina already knew some members through Redway Runners, but what stood out immediately was that it didn’t matter whether you arrived knowing people or not.

Everyone was welcomed.

Conversation flowed easily.

The banter and jokes were always light-hearted.

Watching different people train, listening to the chat, and sharing laughs between sets became just as important as the workout itself.

It’s this atmosphere that’s kept Tina coming back, a place where you can work hard without taking yourself too seriously.

Still Showing Up, Even When Things Aren’t Perfect

Like many long-term members, Tina has had periods of injury along the way.

What mattered was that she didn’t have to stop.

Exercises were adapted, sessions adjusted, and she was still able to turn up, move, and feel involved rather than sidelined.

That consistency, even at once a week, has made all the difference.

Tina might not attend multiple sessions, but she still feels very much part of the GB1fitness community.

And that sense of belonging is what makes the habit stick.

A Reminder That You Don’t Have to Do Everything

Tina’s story is a reminder that fitness doesn’t need to be all-or-nothing.

You don’t need to be perfect, early, or injury-free.

You don’t need to know what every weight does or arrive with a master plan.

You just need to turn up, try, and keep showing up.

And if you do that, even once a week, progress and community tend to follow.

Call to Action

If you’re curious like Tina was, unsure where you fit, or wondering whether circuits and weights are “for you,” there’s only one way to find out.
