Why Laura Stayed After Netball

“I originally joined GB1 to keep my fitness ticking over during the summer when the netball season finished. But when the new season started, I just carried on coming to class!”

Laura expected GB1fitness to be a short-term fix.

Instead it became a routine she kept because it worked with her life and actually felt enjoyable.

Outdoor, Practical, and Perfect Timing

“I love being outdoors so that’s a big draw for me. I would much rather be enjoying the cold crisp weather or the bright sunshine rather than being enclosed in a sweaty gym!”

The 5:15pm start is a game-changer for her:

“The 5.15 start time is great for me as I stop off on my cycle home from work. I know once I get home, I struggle to motivate myself to go back out to a class so this timing works perfectly for me.”

That simplicity, a class that fits into the day is the kind of practical detail that turns a one-off into a habit.

Strength, Progress and the Occasional Dumbbell Mishap

“Since joining GB1 I have improved my strength and gradually increased the weights that I use. I’m naturally very clumsy and uncoordinated so I like that the exercises are usually simple to do but some exercises do take all my concentration and I have been known to drop a dumbbell on my head!”

Progress for Laura is measurable and real.

Heavier weights, clearer technique, and more confidence even if the occasional dumbbell blooper makes everyone laugh.

Banter, Generations and Belonging

“I love the jokes and banter during sessions and the fact that everyone is up for a laugh, whether that is taking the mick out of one another or laughing at ourselves, sometimes it's easy to forget we are exercising!”

She trains with her mum sometimes and says:

“I will never be as fit as my mum or able to hold a plank for as long as her but I love that GB1 classes are suitable for all levels and ages making it a great way to spend a couple of hours a week together.”

Community, inclusivity and fun are the real hook, the training follows naturally when the vibe is this good.
