When Jen first joined Progress Over Perfection: Stronger Together by GB1fitness, she had one simple aim: to get back into running.
Life had got in the way, as it does. She’d struggled to regain her rhythm and was also carrying some extra weight that made everything feel harder than it used to. But deep down, she knew she hadn’t lost her ability—she just needed the right kind of environment to find it again.
“I started attending classes to improve my overall fitness as I was struggling to get back into running and was overweight.”

What Jen discovered was so much more than just a fitness class.
From her first session, she found a welcoming group of people of all ages and abilities. No pressure. No judgment. Just honest encouragement, well-structured workouts, and a coach who understands how to tailor exercise to real-life bodies, not just fitness magazine ideals.
The results?
Impressive—both physically and mentally.
“The classes have helped massively to build me back up, both physically and actually more importantly, mentally.”
Jen started to feel stronger, more capable, and crucially—more confident. Her commitment to the GB1fitness sessions has paid off in a big way: not only is she back running regularly, she’s running faster than she did in her younger years, including a brand new shiny 5k PB of 22:36. That’s no small feat.
"My confidence has improved, and I’m now running quicker than my younger years.”

How Strength Training Supports Better Posture (and Running)
Jen’s story is a great reminder of how strength training doesn’t just make you stronger—it also improves movement, posture, and resilience.
While posture wasn’t Jen’s primary goal, the exercises she’s been doing—like bodyweight movements, core-focused circuits, and resistance training—naturally support posture by strengthening the muscles that stabilise the spine, shoulders, and hips. These are the very same muscle groups that contribute to efficient, pain-free running and everyday movement.
Improved posture can mean:
Less tension in the neck and shoulders
Better breathing during runs
Reduced injury risk from repetitive movement
A stronger, more upright running form (especially over distance)
So while Jen focused on feeling better and running faster, her improved posture and strength were building quietly in the background—exactly as it should.

Stronger Together
Jen’s story is a perfect reflection of what Progress Over Perfection really means.
It’s not about extremes or overnight transformations.
It’s about showing up, doing what you can, and letting progress take care of itself—with the support of a community that actually makes exercise feel enjoyable.
She didn’t just get faster.
She got fitter, stronger, and more confident—and it all started with one decision to give it a go.
